Whilst these categories of wedding planning do not immediately come to mind as potentially eco-friendly, there is always a way to consider the environment.

For photography, you can request the images be given to you digitally, only choosing to print the ones you need. You can then put these up on a website to share with your guests, without having to print copies for them.

For your wedding cake, there are now wonderful suppliers who are offering organic and eco-friendly cakes. Check out the Green Wedding Guide Supplier Directory for a list.

There is another factor which is important when you are organising your wedding. That is to find service providers who understand your needs. If you are dedicated to organising an environmentally friendly wedding, one photographer might be more open to that than the next, and they will go out of their way to reflect that in the service they provide.

Now more than ever, businesses are recognising the importance of having environmental measures put in place. Choose businesses which have are working towards an environmental goal, and even better, those who are working towards going carbon neutral, such as those in the low CO2 economy.

Finding people who care about the environment and practise strong environmental ethics in their business is important. You are supporting their operation and this may even encourage others to follow suit.

Whether a DJ, band or string quartet; surrounding yourself with people who are going to align with your values can be both inspiring and fulfilling.
